Monday Music

Just a little throwback video for you all.  I need to preface the viewing of this video with a few comments.

1) I love this song.  It has the best chorus and is awesome for singing with friends at the top of your lungs.

2) Since it was shot in the eighties, the hair is incredible! How could anyone be taken seriously?

3) I have fond memories of Jacqui’s going away party.   This is for you Jacqui…

Happy Monday!

the fresh perspective…

I really love this song and as a musician, Marvin Gaye is one of my all-time faves.  This song was released in 1971.  That was many years before I was born and the issues he wrote about in this tune are things that concern me today.  It’s funny how the real important things in life never really change…

it helps that he is very attractive, to me that is…

Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)

Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain’t what they used to be
No, no
Where did all the blue sky go?
Poison is the wind that blows
From the north, east, south, and sea
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain’t what they used to be
No, no
Oil wasted on the oceans and upon our seas
Fish full of mercury
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain’t what they used to be
No, no
Radiation in the ground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain’t what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land?
How much more abuse from man can you stand?

-Marvin Gaye

Just a different way to look at the world we live in.  That’s the fresh perspective…

For JS- Nothing’s gonna change your world…

THE BEATLES
“Across The Universe”
(Lennon/McCartney)

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai Guru Deva OM

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
Jai Guru Deva OM

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of live are ringing through my open ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on, across the universe
Jai Guru Deva OM

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Thanking You!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in Canada today!

Typically I would say thanks to everyone who has affected my life since last October and because my list seems to grow more and more with the opening of the salon I can never directly send my gratitude to everyone I know has shown the same to me.  I am reminded of a song that I used to sing that sometimes made me a titch emotional thinking of all the people who came to mind when I would sing the lyrics.  To all of you, thank you, thank you, and I thank you!!

THANK YOU

‘Cause even though when times get rough
You never turned away
You were right there
And I thank you
When I felt I had enough
You never turned away
You were right there
And I thank you

All through my life
I knew that you’d be my world
Knowing every where I go
Things you taught me they would show
So many times and changes
You’ve seen me through
I sure enough couldn’t have survived without you
And so I thought up this song
To show my appreciation for lovin‘ me so long…
You don’t know how much you mean to me

Music makes me lose control…

Ok, so I’m a huge fan of music and I’m feeling that with my busy life I’m not as involved as I used to be. I can remember having an anthem for almost every stage in my life. I love to dance and used to attend any party that would allow me to lose control. I also used to buy a boatload of CD’s. Huh… The last CD I bought was at Starbucks, haven’t been to HMV in years.

I don’t even know what the hits are unless I listen to the radio and I find that I really don’t like any of the top 40 songs. Maybe it’s my age. I’m watching VH1’s hip hop honours and they are honouring ‘the dirty south’. There are so many artists that I forgot about and watching this show made me realize how out of touch I am with some music. I vowed last week to start buying CD’s again starting with M.I.A’s new album. I have her first two albums but as CD’s go, I lent them out and now they are both scratched… That’s the main reason I hate CD’s man, they just get scratched up and there is nothing worse than a skipping record.

I made a list of all the concerts I’ve been to in the past five years and I think I’ve seen over thirty artists and my list is quite eclectic… From Rod Stewart to the Game, I have seen so many bands and I appreciate all types of music. I love instruments, especially horns and strings, and beautiful vocals like Bilal and Marvin Gaye. For the month of June my new thing will be to buy some new music.

On a side note, it’s been over three weeks since I have had naked toes and I must say that I like it only if I have pedicured feet on the regular.

Peace
