the fresh perspective…

LOVE

Can I just say that Lauryn Hill and I broke up a few months back (we had a terrible fight, ask me about it if you really wanna know…) and since then I’ve been thinking…

Anyone that knows me knows that I love LOVE.  I like everything about it and I especially love songs about love.  The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill might be one of the best love albums of my life.  I know that’s a heavy statement but, it’s true.  Her voice, the lyrics, I’m touched.

I’ve been listening to her since we got back together and would like to share one of my faves off that album.  To all of you lovers out there, carry on.  To those of you still searching, this one’s for you.  That’s all, that’s the fresh perspective…

“Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”

You’re just too good to be true.
Can’t take my eyes off of you.
You’d be like heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.
At long last love has arrived.
And I thank God I’m alive.
You’re just too good to be true.
Can’t take my eyes off of you.

Pardon the way that I stare.
There’s nothing else to compare.
The sight of you leaves me weak.
There are no words left to speak.
But if you feel like I feel.
Please let me know that it’s real.
You’re just too good to be true.
Can’t take my eyes off of you.

I need you baby, and if it’s quite all right,
I need you baby to warm a lonely night.
I love you baby.
Trust in me when I say: OK
Oh pretty baby, don’t let me down
I pray.
Oh pretty baby, now that I found you, stay.
And let me love you, oh baby let me love you, oh baby….

You’re just too good to be true.
Can’t take my eyes off of you.
You’d be like heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.
At long last love has arrived.
And I thank God I’m alive.
You’re just too good to be true.
Can’t take my eyes off of you.

I need you baby, and if it’s quite all right,
I need you baby to warm a lonely night.
I love you baby.
Trust in me when I say: It’s OK
Oh pretty baby, don’t let me down
I pray.
Oh pretty baby, now that I found you, stay.
And let me love you, oh baby let me love you, oh baby….

Monday Music

Just a little throwback video for you all.  I need to preface the viewing of this video with a few comments.

1) I love this song.  It has the best chorus and is awesome for singing with friends at the top of your lungs.

2) Since it was shot in the eighties, the hair is incredible! How could anyone be taken seriously?

3) I have fond memories of Jacqui’s going away party.   This is for you Jacqui…

Happy Monday!

the fresh perspective…

I really love this song and as a musician, Marvin Gaye is one of my all-time faves.  This song was released in 1971.  That was many years before I was born and the issues he wrote about in this tune are things that concern me today.  It’s funny how the real important things in life never really change…

it helps that he is very attractive, to me that is…

Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)

Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain’t what they used to be
No, no
Where did all the blue sky go?
Poison is the wind that blows
From the north, east, south, and sea
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain’t what they used to be
No, no
Oil wasted on the oceans and upon our seas
Fish full of mercury
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain’t what they used to be
No, no
Radiation in the ground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain’t what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land?
How much more abuse from man can you stand?

-Marvin Gaye

Just a different way to look at the world we live in.  That’s the fresh perspective…

Recipe for Love

Great family weekend and there was literally LOVE all around.  Went to Yoga for the first time yesterday, and at the end she read a poem about love. If you didn’t know, it’s one of my favorite topics.  I also love this song and it’s from me to you. Today.

Recipe for Love

Harry Connick Jr.

A little bit of me and a whole lot of you
Add a dash of starlight and a dozen roses, too
Then let it rise for a hundred years or two
And that’s the recipe for making love

It doesn’t need sugar ’cause it’s already sweet
It doesn’t need an oven ’cause it’s got a lot of heat
Just add a dash of kisses to make it all complete
And that’s the recipe for making love

And if you’ve made it right you’ll know it
It’s not like anything you’ve made before
And if you’ve made it wrong you’ll know it
‘Cause it won’t keep you coming back for more

I didn’t get it from my grandma’s book upon the shelf
I didn’t get it from a magical and culinary elf
No, a little birdie told me you can’t make it by yourself
And that’s the recipe for making love

Peace

THE BEATLES
“Across The Universe”
(Lennon/McCartney)

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai Guru Deva OM

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
Jai Guru Deva OM

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of live are ringing through my open ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on, across the universe
Jai Guru Deva OM

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
